This is the first time since 1990 that a British player has been awarded the title. (Next thing you know, they’ll be wanting to win the President’s Cup or something. ZING!)
Donald won 2 tournaments in 2011, the Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average, and finished in the top 10 at 14 of the 19 tournaments in which he participated.
Webb Simpson made a run at the money title after winning twice and taking second place at McGladrey in the last three months of the season.
Then in second place for the title, Donald entered the last tournament of the season at Disney in an attempt to reclaim the title. He needed nothing short of a win, and after 6 back to back birdies in the last round, he came back from 5 behind to win by two, claiming the title.
