2011 Men’s Golf Top 10

Tiger drama.  Twitter drama.  Rookie wins.  Hurricane-fueled tournaments.  Lots of newsworthy things happened in golf this year.  We compiled our list of the top 10 events in men’s golf in 2011.

#1 Rory McIlroy won his first major championship at the US open.

 (And let’s not forget Rory’s Twitter drama with Jay Townsend earlier this year.)

#2 Darren Clarke won first major at The Open Championship

#5 Hurricane Irene shortened play at The Barclays by 54 holes

#6 Bill Haas beat Hunter Mahan after 3-hole playoff at the Tour Championship

$7 Luke Donald defeated #1 Lee Westwood at the PGA Championship and became Player of the Year.

#9 America won the President’s Cup for the 4th year in a row.

#10 Tiger wins Chevron World Challenge, his first victory since November 2009. Oh, and don’t forget his caddie drama. And the media frenzy over his comeback. And more caddy drama. And the fact that Chevron isn’t sponsoring the World Challenge anymore.
