The PGA Tour moves on to its 7th event of the season tomorrow at the beautiful Riviera Country Club in Southern Cali. The tournament began in 1926 and has hosted some of the world’s best players. Tiger played his very first PGA Tour tournament here in 1992 and Ben Hogan won this tournament 4 times.
The experts seem to disagree on who’ll win the Northern Trust Open. In fact, if we compiled a list of all the picks we’ve seen in the past few days, it’d probably look a lot like the tourney’s finalized player’s list.
Our pick? Lefty.
C’mon now. Don’t look at us like that. All we’re saying is that Phil Mickleson has already won this tournament twice– last time in 2009, by a single stroke over Steve Stricker–plus, he’s coming off that awesome win at Pebble Beach and the confidence he has in his game right now is off the charts. And let’s not forget the vast improvements he’s made in his ball striking and short game.
And if we’re wrong, we take solace in the fact that at least Tiger won’t be playing this week, so the media will be forced to talk about something else for at least a few days.
