The Honda Classic kicks off tomorrow at the PGA Champions Course in Florida. The tournament, which began in 1972 boasts a $5.7 million purse and 500 Fed Ex Cup points. Defending champion Rory Sabatini has his work cut out for him with the star-studded cast set to play in the tournament, not to mention the “Bear Trap”, a three hole stretch that is, arguably, the toughest stretch on the PGA Tour.
Tiger Woods recently added this tournament to his schedule, and the media has already pounced on the story, predicting that he’ll do very well because the course is made for ball strikers.
We’re gonna call the luck o’ the Irish on this one and predict Graeme McDowell or Rory McIlory to win.
McDowell has been living in Florida, making himself familiar with this type of course. He’s an excellent ball striker and he’s set to have a great year.
McIlroy is just coming off a hard loss at Accenture, but he’s at the top of his game and should do very well this week.
